Tasting Room

Walking into our state-of-the-art, tasting room is like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure experience. Go up the winding drive and through the glass entryway. You’ll be transported to another world.

General Information

General Information

  • Hours: Thursday – Monday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. We are closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Wine, grab-and-go food, and merchandise are available to purchase. We also offer shipping and curbside pick-up.
  • We will only accommodate groups of up to 6, including children, inside our Tasting Room and on our porches during the winter season.
  • Due to our limited seating, we are unable to accommodate groups of more than 6 during this season. We look forward to welcoming you back in the spring.

Tasting Room

  • We currently only offer wine tastings by appointment on Thursday – Monday at 12:00pm, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 4:00 pm. You can schedule a wine tasting here.
  • A tasting reservation is for the tasting only, it does not include reserved seating following the tasting.
  • Please check in with our greeter upon arrival for details and availability in our seating areas. Seating is limited and offered on a first come, first served basis.
  • Seating in our tasting room is limited. Groups of no more than 6 per table will be accepted. This includes children.

Private Wine Tastings

  • We offer more private and intimate tasting experiences for groups within our stunning Production Room. Each guided tasting will include six award-winning wines and a complete background of Big Cork Vineyards from a knowledgeable wine associate. The cost is $24/person.
  • Private wine tastings are available for a minimum of 6 guests, or up to 12 guests maximum.
  • Private wine tastings will be available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 am and 12:00 pm by reservation. Please contact Hospitality Manager, Tanya Kloos, at tkloos@bigcorkvineyards.com to book yours today.
  • The group tasting reservation is for the tasting only, it does not include seating for the group following the tasting.

Outdoor Areas

  • Tables and chairs are spaced outside for social distancing. Please do not move the furniture or add personal furniture to the tables. Seating on the porches and patios is for groups of no more than 6 per table.
  • Larger groups may not split between multiple tables.

BIG Wine Experience 

  • Our BIG Wine Experience will be available by appointment only. This special seated tasting includes six different wines that are a combination of our special release and library wines, and barrel tastings. It also includes a tour of our property and special cheese pairing to complement the wine that has been hand-selected for you. This makes the perfect gift! The cost is $75/person and includes a gratuity for your wine server. We are accepting groups of up to 6, with a 4-person minimum booking requirement. Private event rentals details

  • We offer event space rental for groups during our peak season from April – October. Only after-hours rentals are available from November-March. Please call 301-302-8032 or email Meagan Grove, Events Manager, at mgrove@bigcorkvineyards.com for more information.

Group information details

  • We request that you do not move our furniture or tables.
  • Only event rentals may bring in balloons or decorations, as noted in their contract.
  • Groups of 7 or more are asked to sit in our grassy area. Pop-up tents, blankets, and chairs are all permitted in this space.
  • From November – April, we do not allow groups larger than 6. After-hours rentals are available for groups, please email mgrove@bigcorkvineyards.com.

Children

  • We’re BIG on kids and family, however, we do require that all children remain within an arm’s reach of their guardians while visiting our property.
  • Children’s parties are not permitted at Big Cork Vineyards.

Dogs

  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome in our outdoor areas only, and must remain on a leash at all times.

Decorations

  • Decorations are not permitted unless renting space for an event.
  • This includes balloons, tents, floral arrangements, glitter, streamers, banners, etc.

BIG no-no’s

We hate saying no, but these are our BIG rules so that we can ensure all our guests enjoy their time at our vineyard.

  • No grilling is permitted.
  • No Crockpots, Instant Pots, or personal heaters.
  • No outside music, including radios and musical instruments.
  • Hired transportation must call in advance.

Outside Alcohol Policy

When visiting Big Cork Vineyards, please note the only alcohol that is permitted on our property is Big Cork Vineyards wine. This is Maryland law. Please do not bring any other alcohol including but not limited to previously purchased Big Cork Vineyards wine, wine from another vineyard, beer, hard alcohol, champagne or wine coolers. Failure to abide by these laws subjects us to hefty fines and a loss of our license. Violators will be asked to leave the property immediately.

How much does your tasting cost?

Our tastings are $15/person and include six tastes of wine.

May I choose my own wine for the tasting?

No. We pick the best wines for you and combine them in the best order so you have a BIG experience.

What style of wines do you offer?

We have a variety of styles for all tastes. The majority of our wines fall in the dry category, along with a few semi-dry wines.

Do I need to make a reservation for a wine tasting?

Yes, you can make them through our event calendar.

Are children and pets welcome?

Yes we love kids and dogs. We ask that children be supervised and that your four-legged friends remain on a leash and remain outside on our patio or grassy areas.

I don’t drink wine; may I bring beer or alcohol to your venue?

That’s a BIG no-no. We do not permit outside alcohol.

Do you offer any food onsite?

We have a robust Grab-and-Go Food Market with all types of cheeses, fresh-baked bread, crackers, charcuterie and other goodies.

May I bring food with me?

You are welcome to pack a picnic and enjoy it anywhere on the property except the Tasting Room Bar.

What days are you offering tastings?

Fridays, Saturday, and Sunday by appointment only.

Are you offering tours?

We will resume tours in the spring.

Do we need to provide our own glassware for wine tastings?

No. We've got your covered.

Are you family friendly?

Children are welcome at our vineyard. However, we are a working farm with inherent dangers. We ask that children remain under their parent's supervision at all times.

May I bring my group of twenty-five to celebrate a birthday?

Groups are required to rent space. Please call 301-302-8032 to discuss.
